James paid a visit to Our Lady & St Kenelms Primary School today as he met with school children who are part of the ‘Caritas Ambassadors’ group.
Caritas (the Latin word for 'charity') is the ‘helping hand’ of the Catholic church, providing support to those who are poor and vulnerable, and inspired by Gospel values. The Ambassadors Group at Our Lady & St Kenelms meets to discuss issues affecting Halesowen and the surrounding area and see how they can make a difference, as well as seeing how they can make an impact on wider issues such as poverty, climate change and helping refugees.
The Ambassadors had the opportunity to talk with James about the issues they are passionate about, as well as sharing their vision and plans for how they plan to use the Group to raise awareness of these issues on a wider scale.
“I was delighted to visit Our Lady & St Kenelms recently, and to have the opportunity to meet with the Caritas Ambassadors", said James. "Their knowledge on the some of the issues we are facing locally, nationally and globally was really impressive, as is their enthusiasm and desire to help make a difference.
“I wish the Ambassadors every success, and I look forward to having future dialogue on the key issues they care about.”
Christine Finnegan, Head Teacher at Our Lady & St Kenelms, added, “The Caritas Ambassadors' which is centered around putting love and the teachings of the Gospel into action to make a difference to others. They are working together to identify and discuss issues affecting people in their local area of Halesowen and Birmingham and how they can make a difference.
“The children had the chance to meet James Morris and share their vision and plans. They explained the purpose of their group and the issues they would like to tackle in their community. They also interviewed him to gain an insight into what the Government are doing about the issues they hold dear and plan to work collaboratively with him in the future to truly make a difference to their local area.”
