James hosted the Halesowen Careers Expo today in partnership with Halesowen BID, Halesowen College and the DWP, as those looking for work or training opportunities flocked to the Cornbow Centre to see what was on offer.
Employers including National Express and the NHS took part, as well as local companies such as Kings & Queens Academy of Hair & Beauty and heating specialists Jigsaw Solutions Ltd.
Increasing jobs and skills provision is a key part of James’s plan for Halesowen & Rowley Regis, and this year’s Careers Expo was the twelfth jobs fair he has held since becoming MP in 2010.
“I want to thank everyone who came along to the Careers Expo on Friday", said James, "It was great to see so many local and national employers and training providers exhibiting with the exciting opportunities they have available.
“This was the twelfth jobs fair I have held since becoming MP for Halesowen & Rowley Regis, and I will keep doing what I can to support local people into work and training for their futures.”
Vicky Rogers, Manager of Halesowen BID, added, “We were delighted to work with James, the DWP and Halesowen College to bring about the Halesowen Careers Expo, and it was great to see so many people coming to the Cornbow on Friday to see what was on offer.
"Businesses and employers across Halesowen and the surrounding area have lots of exciting opportunities, and it was great to hear from them on what they are offering to local people.”
