Over 700 people have now signed Halesowen & Rowley Regis MP James Morris’ petition to save Halesowen Police Station.
The campaign to save the town’s only station was launched two weeks ago by MP James Morris following the decision by West Midlands Police to review its estate.
Last Saturday Halesowen Conservative Councillors joined James on Halesowen High Street to speak to members of the public and collect signatures.
James said, “The campaign to save Halesowen’s police station has really gathered momentum with over 700 local people signing my petition. I will be handing this to the local Police & Crime Commissioner, so he knows that local people in Halesowen feel strongly about these proposals.
West Midlands Police have £179 million in useable reserves and underspent by £7 million last year – the Commissioner needs to stop playing political games with local policing”.
A ‘Save Halesowen’s Police Station’ Facebook page has been launched, with an online petition available at www.jamesmorrismp.com or by calling James Morris MP’s constituency office on 0121 550 6777.
