Practical action on jobs, skills and employment

I organise jobs and skills fairs, which give local people an opportunity to forge a career path or re-train. During these challenging economic circumstances, I’ll continue working with employers and training providers to ensure we have the best life chances for everyone in Halesowen, Cradley Heath, Old Hill, Cradley, Wollescote, Quarry Bank and Dudley Wood.

In 2023 and 2024 I hosted the ‘Halesowen Careers Expo’, in partnership with Halesowen College, Halesowen BID and Jobcentre Plus, with a range of local and national employers and training providers exhibiting. During the pandemic I co-hosted a virtual Jobs & Skills Fair, and in June 2022 I opened Halesowen College’s new Skills Shop in the Cornbow Centre which provides employers and local people with skills and training.

As part of the Rowley Regis Towns Fund, I am working with Sandwell College and Sandwell Council to bring a Satellite Education Hub to Cradley Heath, which will enhance skills provision, and I am also working with Halesowen College, Halesowen BID and Dudley Council on plans for a new centre for adult education in the town centre.
