James and his staff marked Macmillan Coffee Morning today, getting together with coffee and cake whilst raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Macmillan was founded in 1911 by Douglas Macmillan and has grown to be the UK’s leading source of cancer support, advice and research, helping all those affected by the disease. Since 1990, the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ has been a large source of fundraising for the charity with people hosting events all over the UK, usually on the last Friday in September, to raise money. In the first year over £250,000 was raised, and in 2020 it raised over £10m!
“Most people will either be diagnosed with cancer or have a loved one diagnosed with it”, said James. “I know that so many people have benefitted from the services that Macmillan offer, often helping to make the end of their life more comfortable or being a source of support to the families and carers of those with cancer.
“The pandemic meant that a lot of the usual Coffee Morning events were unable to take place last year, so with the easing of restrictions it is nice to see that many have resumed. Having coffee and cake with my team was a nice opportunity to catch up with everyone, whilst also raising money for a very worthy cause.
