James visited Dudley MBC’s Telecare Service’s today, as he learned more about the services provided and the transition taking place towards a more digitised offer of services.
The Telecare Service is open to residents across the Dudley borough you were require extra assistance to remain in their own homes, for a cost of £21.30 + VAT per month. Telecare takes over 15,000 phone calls per month from its 10,000 service users, which is primarily used by older people but is also used by younger people with health conditions or learning difficulties.
James learned about how Telecare moving away from ‘analogue’ services towards a more ‘digital’ offering, such as issuing residents with tablets to report their issues or call for help.
“Being able to live independently is good for wellbeing" said James, "but there are some who require additional support, and I was pleased to hear how Telecare are providing that for residents in Dudley."
“Care in the community can help prevent unnecessary hospitalisations, ensuring free up bed capacity for those that really need it. This service also provides peace of mind for residents, who know that help is only a call or a push of the button away.”
Nicola Boerm-Hammond, Telecare Call Centre Manager, added: “James visited the Dudley Telecare Service on Friday, and was provided with an overview of the service that supports over 8,000 Dudley residents. He heard about the Council’s ambitions to develop a digital service in the future.”
